The Day of The Gift

This is it! The Day The World celebrates The Birth of the The Baby who is The Way!

Wondering why there is only one way? Instead may I ask you to wonder why is there even one way? Left up to us, there would be no way.

Thanks be to God for His Indescribable Gift!

What the devil never does

So I had a vendor come in today and well...in typical fashion around here he kept chatting on and on (I know things about his uncle's second cousin...) and then suddenly he says "Well I'm going to do something the devil never does"
I perk up, "oh yeah, what's that?"
"Leave you alone" and he walked out the door.

Uhhh hello! Best sermon I've heard in a while - get tingles even typing it. What a great reminder of why sometimes it seems like we're always fighting against the tide AND how in just a split second, your words can impact a person's life.

What a guy! And what a message! I can't wait to have him walk back in the door (and yes, I'll ask after the second cousin...)

Mondays

Oh it's Monday, the celebration is over, it's back to the grind. We had some great laughs, made some sweet memories, but now the spectacular show is over, the event we had been planning and looking forward to for seemingly forever is now history. Now what do we do? How do we get motivated to get out of bed? It's Monday - nobody looks forward to Monday. Monday is when you talk about what happened on Sunday, when you discuss all that took place on the weekend.

Don't let Monday be a day spent living in the past. Or as The Message says, "Don't lose a minute in building on what you've been given." Heed Peter's reminder to add to your faith - goodness, knowledge, self-control, patience, devotion to God, kindness, love. "If all these things are in you and growing, you will never fail to be useful to God. You will produce the kind of fruit that should come from your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ" (2 Peter 1:8)

The earth is still spinning, the week end wasn't "the end" - let's keep going and growing!

This message brought to you by someone who woke up quite groggy, but got motivated by reading God's Word (while having a caffeinated, sugary beverage) - I highly recommend it!

You are worthy

What is your car worth? I know for some of you it may seem priceless, but its true value is only what someone is willing to pay for it.

How about your house? Probably worth a bit more today than a few years ago, but it's still all about the amount a buyer is willing to pay.

One last question - what is your life worth? Did you know that a price has been paid? - God was willing to give the life of His Son for it (and for those of you with sons - can you imagine???).

Your life is precious, beloved. Live a life worthy of the price that has been paid for it.

Relax - We got this!

Ever watch a game of your favorite team when you already know that they won? Isn't it enjoyable? No stress, no worries. Even when the situation looks hopeless: third and long and not much time left, best player fouls out of the game, or all the calls seem to be going in favor of the other guys. Yet those things that would leave you disheartened, discouraged, ready to give up and perhaps even change teams, don't faze you one bit when you know the end score. In fact, they just add a little excitement as you wonder how your team is going to overcome - since you already know without a doubt that they do.

Love that feeling. Love that assurance of victory. Wish I could go through life like that - handle every seemingly hopeless circumstance, every unfair call, with confidence that in the end it will turn out all right. Then last week I finished reading that Last Book - the one I'm promised I'll be blessed if I read - and it tells me the outcome, it reveals the final score -in case we've forgotten, Jesus wins. Why am I stressing? Why am I doubting? Why am I concerned that it seems like the enemy is winning right now? The final outcome has been revealed - we win! WE WIN!

So don't sweat it, do your part, cheer on your teammates and relax - we got this one! Enjoy the ride. When it seems like the situation is impossible, don't get discouraged, get excited to see how it's all going to get resolved -for we know, YOU KNOW, we win.

Ha! We win! Nothing better than being a teammate, a cheerleader, a coach for the winning team! HAPPY new year!

Turn Around

This morning I read in Revelation that John was in exile for his faith, for sharing the gospel and was in the spirit - yet Jesus was still behind him. John had to turn around to see the voice that was speaking to him.

It made me think that no no matter where we are in our walk with the Lord, we always have to be willing to shift, adjust, change direction to keep our eyes on Jesus. We can be right in the center of His will, but then have to move on a moment's notice.

Praying I'll always be flexible, willing to turn my life completely around if needed - whatever it takes to always be able to see Him in all His glory.
